As you may know, my brother Dr. Ron Davis has been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the pancreas, which has spread to the liver.
Ron is currently President of the American Medical Association. And, for decades, he has been an advocate of healthcare for the uninsured, preventative medicine and tobacco control. Now with a positive outlook and the strong support of his wife, children, and all of his family, he is about to embark in the battle for his life. We are looking forward to his recovery with your help.
Did you know that the five-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer is less than five percent – a fact that has not changed in 30 years despite improved survival rates for many other cancers? Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in women and men in the United States. There are no screening tools for pancreatic cancer, and unless detected in the earliest stages, there are no effective treatments.
Research is our best weapon in the fight against pancreatic cancer. Research follows dollars, and for too long, funding for pancreatic cancer research was virtually nonexistent.
The time has come to ensure that pancreatic cancer patients have a fighting chance.
